Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated November 2026

Only siblings are ever charged for Parent Setu -- parents never pay or see any billing screen. This page explains how that charge works, and what happens if you cancel or a payment fails.

1. Free access before any charge

Every sibling gets full, free use of Parent Setu for their first month, counted from the first time they ever sign in -- no card or payment method required. This belongs to the person, not to any one family, so it never repeats for the same phone number even in a new family. No subscription charge is made during this window: if you subscribe early, your first monthly charge is made when the free month ends, not before (setting up automatic payment may involve a small one-time verification amount from your bank or payment app). There is no grace period after the free month: when it ends, everything except viewing stops until you subscribe.

2. How billing works

Subscribing sets up a recurring monthly charge for youas a sibling. It is currently ₹79 a month, which covers you and up to 2 parents you have added; each further parent you add costs another ₹79 a month. Siblings in the same family each have their own subscription, and one sibling's subscription never changes another's. The exact price is always shown in Settings before you pay, and the app tells you before adding a parent raises it. If you add a parent after subscribing, Settings offers an "Update plan" button that replaces your subscription with one at the new price.

In India, payment is through Razorpay by UPI Autopay or card. From outside India, you can pay through PayPal instead, priced in US dollars (currently US$1.99 for each ₹79 unit, so US$1.99 a month for you and up to 2 parents). Only one of the two is active at a time. The charge renews automatically from whichever date you subscribed, not a fixed calendar date. If you subscribe while your free month is still running, the first real charge is simply delayed until that free month ends -- you're never charged twice for the same period. Taxes, currency conversion, and your bank's or PayPal's own charges may apply.

3. Cancelling

You can cancel anytime from Settings inside the app. Cancelling keeps your full access until the end of the period you've already paid for, then simply doesn't renew -- on either Razorpay or PayPal -- and there is no partial or prorated refund for the unused remainder of a billing period.Your family's data is never deleted just because a subscription lapses (see the Privacy Policy's retention section). After your paid period ends there is a short grace period (see section 4); after that you can still view everything, but nothing can be added or used until someone subscribes again.

4. When a paid plan ends

When a paid plan ends -- because it wasn't renewed, you cancelled it, or a renewal payment failed -- everything except the SOS button keeps working for 2 more days after the last paid day, and the SOS button keeps working for 3 more days. These grace periods are given only after a plan you have actually paid for, as a safety margin; they are not a promise of free service, and they do not apply after the free month. You'll see a reminder in the app during this window. After it ends you can still view everything and set your family up (create it, add parents, send the setup link), but reminders, daily reminders, Moments, check-ins and alarms stop working, your parent's phone shows that Parent Setu is paused, and SOS stops (the SOS button then dials 112) until a subscription is renewed. Renewing restores everything straight away.

5. Refunds

Because cancelling simply stops future renewals rather than ending access immediately, we generally do not issue refunds for time already paid for. The one exception is a genuine billing error on our part -- for example, being charged twice for the same period, or charged after you had already cancelled. If you believe that has happened, contact us at support@parentsetu.com with your family's name and the approximate date of the charge, and we'll review it.

6. What still works without a plan

Without an active plan, free month or grace period you can still view your family's information, create a family, add parents, send a parent the setup link, call a saved contact (it only dials the number), and delete your data. Everything else needs a plan, including the SOS button, which keeps working for 3 days after a paid plan ends and then stops until a subscription is renewed. Parent Setu is not an emergency service: in an emergency always call 112 or your local emergency number.

This page is shown in English only, the same as the rest of Parent Setu's public, pre-signup pages. Prices and grace-period lengths mentioned above may change with notice; the Settings screen inside the app always shows your current, exact terms.
